Tramfloc Hydroseeding and Erosion Control Polymers
Tramfloc® 1030-1040 Series of formulations is a linear polyacrylamide polymer that electrochemically binds soil particles and other constituents of any hydroseeding or hydromulching system together to provide easier pumping, superior soil stabilization, increased water penetration and better germination.
Tramfloc® 1030-1040 Series is dissolved in water then spray-applied to the surface to be seeded. It will penetrate into the soil. Within a few hours, it will cause the soil particles to bind together and form a stabilized layer on top of the soil. As a result, all wetted particles such as seeds, soil conditioners, and fertilizer become bound to the surface. The stabilized layer of the soil remains absolutely water permeable and the soil biology is not impaired.
By keeping the soil in place, by protecting against wind, water and water erosion, and keeping fertilizer in place and available to the plant, Tramfloc® creates an ideal environment for seed germination.
Tramfloc® 1030-1040 Series replaces the guar gum once used in this application. It took 40-60#/acre of guar gum whereas Tramfloc® is applied at a rate of 3#/acre.
Tramfloc® 1030-1040 Series is environmentally safe, once root growth has taken place; Tramfloc® is decomposed by the air and sunlight to environmentally harmless carbon dioxide and water.
Tramfloc® 1030-1040 Series is compatible with any paper or fiber mulches, fertilizers, surfactants or biostimulants. Tramfloc®® 1030-1040 Series formulations for hydroseeding, mulching and erosion control applications are in both our 100 and 1000 Series of formulations. Please contact our product manager for product selection and recommendation.

Tramfloc® Soil Conditioning Polymers are extremely cost effective
Erosion control, sediment runoff, and the availability and efficient use of water are some of the most serious issues facing irrigated agriculture. Many of the new environmental laws and regulations deal specifically with these issues. Polyacrylamides contained in Tramfloc® Tramfloc® Soil Conditioning Polymers improve runoff water quality by reducing the amount of sediment, nitrogen, phosphorus, COD, BOD, and pesticides in the water. In their first commercial use in the US in 1995, approximately 50,000 acres were treated and one million tons of soil were saved. By 2010, more than four million acres were being treated.
Tramfloc® 1030 Series Soil Conditioning Polymers are water-soluble, linear polyacrylamide polymers that were designed to be used in agriculture for erosion control, to improve water infiltration, for dust abatement, and to reduce crust formation.
Tramfloc® 1030 Series Soil Conditioning Polymers work by aggregating fine, suspended soil particles and settling them, thus maintaining soil pore space and infiltration capacity, resulting in soils that are less susceptible to raindrop and irrigation induced erosion. Tramfloc® 1030 Series Soil Conditioning Polymers improve water infiltration by up to 50% and enhance water distribution and infiltration. With the use of Tramfloc® 1030 Series Soil Conditioning Polymers one can reduce soil loss of nutrients, pesticides and herbicides in tail water runoff.
Tramfloc® 1030 Series Soil Conditioning Polymers are environmentally safe. They will naturally degrade with UV light and is biodegradable. A variety of these products have been approved by NSF International for potable water clarification. They have also been approved by the FDA under several 21CFR regulations that allow their use as both direct and indirect food additives. They are registered by thirty-seven individual state Departments of Agriculture. The USDA has been a strong advocate for polyacrylamide use. The NRCS (Natural Resources Conservation Service) finalized the conservation practice standard for polyacrylamides as a BMP in July 2000. Tramfloc® 1030 Series Soil Conditioning Polymer MSDS and TIB are available on www.Tramfloc.com.
Tramfloc® 1030 Series Soil Conditioning Polymers products are available in both granular and emulsion, that is liquid, forms. Tramfloc® 1030 Series Soil Conditioning Polymers should be applied for surface flood/furrow irrigation in either the granular or liquid forms: Tramfloc® 1038 is a granular product for patch application while Tramfloc® 1036 and 1037 are the liquid products.
We recommend that Tramfloc® 1030 Series Soil Conditioning Polymers be added to loose soil either after seeding or cultivation or after field work has been completed prior to rain or irrigation. Adding Tramfloc® 1030 Series Soil Conditioning Polymers to soil that has crusted from rain or irrigation will not be effective. Always add Tramfloc® 1030 Series Soil Conditioning Polymers to disrupted soil.
Tramfloc® 1038 Granular Soil Conditioning Polymer Application
Standard application rates for Tramfloc® 1038 Soil Conditioning Polymer varies from about 2-3#/acre or 1.5-4.0 kgs/hectare. Tramfloc® 1038 can be applied in a patch method by using a dispenser that can apply 0.5-1.0 oz. of dry polymer per 1000 linear feet of furrow just above the water source. We also provide Tramfloc® 1038 Soil Conditioning Polymer feeding equipment to maximize the cost effectiveness of the polymer application.
Tramfloc®1036 and 1037 Emulsion Soil Conditioning Polymers’ Application
To apply Tramfloc® 1036 or 1037 Soil Conditioning Polymers 300E, meter or drip it into irrigation water upstream where turbulence is greatest, allowing the product to mix thoroughly prior to the first furrow irrigated.
All Tramfloc® 1030 Series Soil Conditioning Polymers products should be added during the advance phase of irrigation or after any soil disturbance. Tramfloc® 1030 Series Soil Conditioning Polymers may also need reapplication when erosion conditions reappear (frequency may vary depending on soil and climate conditions). It should be noted that lower Tramfloc® 1030 Series Soil Conditioning Polymers dosages can be used when good soil erosion management is achieved.
We have suggested directions for application of Tramfloc® 1030 Series Soil Conditioning Polymers for sprinkler and drip irrigation systems. Tramfloc® 1036 and 1037 Series Soil Conditioning Polymers are best suited to these applications.
The normal application rate of Tramfloc® 1036 and 1037 Series Soil Conditioning Polymers, based on 0.25-0.50” per acre of irrigation water, is 1 pint to 1 gallon of Tramfloc® 1036 or 1037 Soil Conditioning Polymer per acre or 1.50L to 10L/hectare.
To apply either Tramfloc® 1036 or 1037 Soil Conditioning Polymers, meter the neat emulsion product into irrigation water upstream where turbulence is greatest, allowing the product to mix thoroughly prior to the first furrow irrigated. Discontinue product application when water reaches the end of the field. One should not charge neat product into irrigation water, as it will form gels. Insufficient turbulence will suppress product effectiveness.
To apply Tramfloc® 1036 or 1037 Soil Conditioning Polymer, inject the neat emulsion directly into the sprinkler irrigation system while the water is running by using a pump designed for low volume chemical injection. Back-flow prevention is strongly recommended to preclude plugging of polymer injection lines. We recommend that polymer tubing and piping be completely dry. Polymer solution lines should be flushed after delivering solution to the application point which will help keep lines free of polymer residue.
Tramfloc® 1030 Series Soil Conditioning Polymers can also be injected in drip irrigation systems to reduce biofilm accumulation in the lines, strengthen soil structure, and promote deeper water infiltration.
Tramfloc® 1030 Series Soil Conditioning Polymers can help to reduce sediment discharge to settling ponds which can reduce pond cleaning expenses. The polymers should not be over-fed.
Tramfloc® 1030 and 1040 Series Soil Conditioning Polymers
Please note that Tramfloc® 1040 Series Soil Conditioning Polymers are tablet forms of Tramfloc® 1036, 1037 and 1038. The tablets are used in very small applications with minimal or no labor or equipment resources. All product guidance for the granular and emulsion forms of the polymers applies equally to the tablet products.
